【摘要】:Thetestresultsrepresentafterflameplusafterglowtime,inseconds,foramaterialundertheconditionsofthetest.Thetestresultsforplaquesalsoindicatewhetherornotthespecifiedflamewillburnthroughamaterial.Theeffectofmaterialthickness,colors,additives,deterioration,andpossiblelossofvolatilecomponentsismeasurable.Theburningcharacteristicsmayvarywiththickness.Testdatashouldonlybecomparedwithdataformaterialsofcomparablethickness.Theresultsserveasareferenceforcomparingtherelativeperformanceofmaterialsandcanbeanaidinmaterialselection.Inthistestmethod,thespecimensaresubjectedtospecificlaboratorytestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itwillnotalwaysbepossiblebyorfromthistestmethodtopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefire-test-exposureconditionsdescribedinthistestmethod.1.1Thisfire-test-responsetestmethodcoversasmall-scalelaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingtherelativeburningcharacteristicsandtheresistancetoburn-throughofplasticsusingsmallbarandplaquespecimensexposedtoa125-mm(500-Wnominal)flame.Note18212;ThistestmethodandIEC60695-11-20aretechnicallyequivalent.Note28212;Foradditionalinformationoncomparativeburningcharacteristicsofsolidplasticsinaverticalposition,seeTestMethodD3801.1.2Thistestmethodwasdevelopedforpolymericmaterialsusedforpartsindevicesandappliances.Theresultsareintendedtoserveasapreliminaryindicationoftheiracceptabilitywithrespecttoflammabilityforaparticularapplication.Thefinalacceptanceofthematerialisdependentuponitsuseincompleteequipmentthatconformswiththestandardsapplicabletosuchequipment.1.3TheclassificationsystemdescribedinAppendixX1isintendedforqualityassuranceandthepreselectionofcomponentmaterialsforproducts.1.4Thistestmethodmaybeappliedtoothernonmetallicmaterialsiffoundtobeappropriate.1.5Thistestmethodisnotintendedtocoverplasticswhenusedasmaterialsforbuildingconstructionorfinishing.1.6Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardsorfireriskassessmentofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.See6.1foraspecifichazardstatement.
